Elder Louis D. Rodriguez, a Brooklyn native, has been a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) since 2000. He was ordained and installed as a ruling elder and clerk of session in 2015. Professionally, he has worked with Jefferson & Sons LLC, where he became Vice President of Legal and Administration in 2018. Elder Rodriguez has served the Presbytery of New York City in many capacities, including as past co-chair of the Self-Development of People Committee and as a member of the General Cabinet. He has mentored at-risk youth in the Edenwald section of the Bronx through the Arches program under FEDCAP Rehabilitation Services, and he also mentors participants in Project Connect, a program that supports individuals returning home from prison as they reintegrate into society. He is a co-author of the forthcoming edition of A Jailhouse Lawyer’s Manual, published by the Columbia Human Rights Law Review, and serves as a board member of Survivors of the System (SOS), a program connected with the Parole Preparation Project that also assists people returning from incarceration. As the Justice Advocate for the Presbytery of New York City, Elder Rodriguez focuses on issues including legal reform, immigration, and climate justice. He pursued a course of study with New York Disaster & Interfaith Services and currently serves on its Advisory Committee.
